Latin girl studying in Austin

My first time studying abroad and alone.

Welcome to my first blog!

Here you can find some of my expiriences in Austin, texas. In this blog also are going to be some photos that I took in my daily life and interest things that are good to know about Austin, so if you have not been here yet, you can make an idea of how it looks like.

Let's get started!!

Flying alone

First of all, we will talk about the airports expirience, Do you know how flying alone feels like? well I'm going to tell you.

One thing you have to take into account it's that I'm only 17 years old and was my first time goint to The United States, so when arrived to the airport of my city (Cali, Colombia) I had a lot of feelings at the same time, I was scary, nervous, excited, afraid, sad, and all you can imagine.

I'm going to give you more context... At the airport I was with my parents, my sister and my boyfriend, so that was so hard to say goodbye to them but on the other hand, I knew that they were proud of me and that made me happy.

Then, when I arrived to Miami, it happened someething I was not specting to happend, weird and scary for me, they stopped me to scan my baggage looking for food, but fortunately they din not find anything.

Finally, I arrived to Austin and I met with my aunt, uncle and cousins, whose were going to be my new family for the next 4 months.

  1. I also has similar experience with you. When I was 10, I went to the Beijing, China alone because of studying Chinese. I went to China without knowing any Chinese. I couldn't even say hello in Chinese. Although airplane crews helped me, I was really scared and I really want to go back home. So, I can know your feeling and I think you are a really brave girl. Of course you remember, I also went on a city tour. I couldn't hear the explanation because I was far away from the guide teacher, but thanks to your blog, I know where I went now:D

  4. Nice blog! I have gone through the same experience you went through, and you’re totally right it was a roller coaster of emotions. Also, I went on a bus tour and I think it is great for newcomers to explore Austin’s amazing sites.

  5. Hi Silvia!
Visiting foreign countries in youths are very nervous, indeed.
I reminded an experience of visiting Switzerland even though I didn’t understand and speak English and other languages like French.
Thank you for telling us the information about many sightseeing spots!
