Last week in most of the states of the US, for example, here in Austin TX. It is similar to Colombia because wenalso have a holiday week thta is called "Semana Santa" which means holy week, but usually it is on April.

It is common for people to travel during this week and of course I wanted to do it becuase is my first time in the US, but unfortunately I couldn't do it, so I stayed at home with my family. One impressive thing that I didn't expect was that I started to go to the gym with my counsin and we only went like 3 days last week but we want to continues with this as a routine. Also, last sunday I went with some classmates to play bowling and it was such a really good time, I won the first round!

- I'm the second one by the way

On Thursday we went to a town near to San Antonio which is called Federicksburg (or something like thta, I don't remember the spelling) and it was really pretty, we took some photos and ate ice cream becuase it was to hot there (it was my first time eating US ice cream haha).

Saturdays night I spent time with my cousin and some friends, so we were looking what to do in Austin. First we went to the Capithol but it was closed at that hour (it was 10pm), so we walked to the downtown.

Then we saw a men who was singing and playing the guitar while there were couples around listening to him. After thta, we continued walking and we arrived to a street that was closed to the passage of cars and it looked pretty because there were a lot of people and we heard different types of music.

It was a good time but we only could see the restaurant and bars from the street because you must have at least 21 year to enter. However, it is a good place to see at night and if you are 21 or older, you can have the best night of your life :) .

Volleyball experience

I'm one of those people who love sports. Before I came to US, I used to play volleyball almos every day, so one of the first things I looked for when I arrived was a volleyball club or school, but I found out that they only played in the summer. Then, luckily, my aunt told me that she had gone to a sport center and there were people playing volleyball, so she gave me the open gym schedule.

The following saturday I was very excited because I it was my first time I played volleyball since I came to Austin. I went to "Austin recreation cente" and there were a lot of people. Finally they let me play and it was a lot of fun. In this moment, I still playing there every weekend and I have fun. It is also a good place to meet new people and practice my English. :)

City bus tour

 City bus tour

One of the first thing I did once I arrived to austin and I recommend you with close eyes is the city tour in bus, in which you can see different touristic places en austin and also know more about the city, for example that Austin is considered the live music mundial capital, is one of the most sunny city in the world and other things.

With a duration of aproximately 2 hours, you can see the city and its tourists places, also you can take pretty photos with beautiful sunny backgrounds and post it on your social media. Some of the places you will visit if you do this tour are:

Latin girl studying in Austin

My first time studying abroad and alone.

Welcome to my first blog!

Here you can find some of my expiriences in Austin, texas. In this blog also are going to be some photos that I took in my daily life and interest things that are good to know about Austin, so if you have not been here yet, you can make an idea of how it looks like.

Let's get started!!

Flying alone

First of all, we will talk about the airports expirience, Do you know how flying alone feels like? well I'm going to tell you.

One thing you have to take into account it's that I'm only 17 years old and was my first time goint to The United States, so when arrived to the airport of my city (Cali, Colombia) I had a lot of feelings at the same time, I was scary, nervous, excited, afraid, sad, and all you can imagine.

I'm going to give you more context... At the airport I was with my parents, my sister and my boyfriend, so that was so hard to say goodbye to them but on the other hand, I knew that they were proud of me and that made me happy.

Then, when I arrived to Miami, it happened someething I was not specting to happend, weird and scary for me, they stopped me to scan my baggage looking for food, but fortunately they din not find anything.

Finally, I arrived to Austin and I met with my aunt, uncle and cousins, whose were going to be my new family for the next 4 months.
